Chlorine. If You Care parchment paper is made specifically from unbleached, totally chlorine free (TCF) paper. Removing chlorine eliminates the risk of its residues and derivatives from entering lakes, rivers or streams where it can have harmful long-term effects on our ecosystem. Nobody needs bleached paper to bake with, but we all need clean water.

Paper. We use Forest Stewardship Council (FSC®) paper for our base materials. Worldwide, illegal logging accounts for millions of acres of forest loss and untold damage, FSC certification ensures our paper comes from sources that promote the most rigorous environmental and social standards of stewardship in forestry. We think this is a good thing and worth supporting, even for your baking.

Non-Stick. To make your baking less stressful and a pleasure, our non-stick surface is made with a form of silicon, easily found on earth, that is non-toxic and easily composted. Not to be confused with other silicone coatings that are not compostable. And that's because we think your baking should be free from residues and toxins, so it's simply easy. reliable and fun ... and composting is a big part of this product's lifecycle too.

Lifecycle. You might think all papers are compostable, but that's not true. Paper comes in many forms from various processes. Our paper is certified compostable at home and in municipal facilities, and this is important because globally, millions of tons of valuable biobased materials go to landfill, where they are rendered useless, or worse, produce methane, a destructive greenhouse gas that accelerates climate change.

Composting. Composting at home or in municipal facilities means returning material to our ecosystem. The micro fauna also get a good meal and produce fantastic, soil-enriching, life-giving compost that locks up carbon, and contributes to soil health, ready for the next generation of life. It all adds up to our circle of life moment. Lovely thought.
